Last week we held the fifth edition of our annual product and customer experience conference, Canvas. Building on the growth of last year’s event, we returned to the Library of Birmingham for a day of talks and conversation with fellow product people.
Lifting the lid on great products
Most of us have products and services that we use on a regular basis, that make our lives better in some way. With Canvas, we aim to take a behind the scenes look at what actually goes into building them, in the words of the people who are doing the hard work. Not necessarily the usual spokespeople for their organisation, but definitely the people who are in the best position to shed light on the different thought processes and methodologies that go into building our favourite products, as well as the challenges they’ve faced along the way.
We were immensely proud of our speaker lineup this year. Our 11 speakers all came from organisations that are changing the way we work, the way we eat, the way we give to others, the way we learn, the way we travel (and more). Although they all kept to our theme of the “Insider Stories from Product People”, there was a wide range of topics covered on the day; from applying scientific experimentation to the design process, to harnessing big data, to team dynamics and to Virtual Reality.
We’re working hard to finish the edits for all of the individual talks and we’ll share these the moment they’re done.

No conference is complete without an afterparty, and Canvas attendees decamped to Rub Smokehouse for drinks, food & a little bit of beer pong (courtesy of our sponsors Breakthrough Funding).
