383 conferences:

Canvas was launched in 2012 as the banner brand for conferences organised by 383. Speakers at the first event included representatives from Twitter, Opera and the BBC. Our aim with Canvas is to create conferences with a reputation for challenging the default ways we view digital technologies, and gather speakers who are actively working on large scale and interesting projects Read the roundup on Canvas 2012 on the blog.

Web developer meetup:

Hydrahack is a Birmingham developer meet-up for people who enjoy getting together and making things. Hydrahack was started by one of our lead developers at 383 with the intention of gathering talent from across the region to meet-up, break things and make things! This provides a forum to share knowledge, build community and stay in touch with exciting work happening on our doorstep.

Supporting talent - placements:

383 Boot Camp is a five day crash course introducing up-and-coming talent, and new starters, to life at 383. Working in a team, boot-campers tackle a mock brief; taking an idea through from strategy to execution, and pitching it back to everyone in the agency in under a week. Boot Camp has been designed to give students an opportunity to come and learn with us, and to give new starters a kick start in their lives at the agency.

We understand that it’s hard to make great work unless there’s a great space to work in. The 383 studio is situated in a beautiful Grade II listed building in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter. As well as giving thought to how individual spaces should be used, we’ve also designed, made, or reclaimed most of what you see ourselves. It’s the one with a ship’s mast sticking out of the roof... you can’t miss it.
